Young Craftsman 2014
Seven pupils from Eastbourne College have received awards at the 2014 South of England Show Young Craftsman of the Year Competition.
The award winning pieces were on display at the Argingly Showground on 7 and 8 June.
George Allan – 1st in Ceramics and 2nd in the overall competition
Lewis Webber – 1st in Design and Technology
William Dickens – 2nd in Design and Technology
Bethany Stephens – 2nd in Textiles
Ryan Packham – 2nd in Wood
Samuel McClure – 3rd in Ceramics
Tea Picard – U17 award in Jewellery
George Allan’s winning ceramic entry was a tiger, decorated with jungle camouflage and inspired by Henry Rousseau’s painting. As category winner, his tiger was entered into the overall competition category where it was judged against work by students and apprentices in the other categories of textiles, wood, design and technology and metal. George was delighted to receive the overall Silver award.
The ceramics work will be on display at the Art Show in the College art school from Friday 20 June and the DT work will be available to view at the Design Show from Thursday 26 June in the Birley Centre.
