U19 Sussex Champions
The College girls U18 hockey side claimed more silverware on the last day of the Lent term by winning the Sussex County U19 Cup on Friday 20 March. The girls have had a remarkable season: they won the Sussex U18 Trophy Cup last term, then finished in the top ten U18 girls hockey teams in the country earlier in this term before they beat a strong Christ’s Hospital side to claim the U19 Sussex title too. With a large College crowd to support the girls, the College team dominated the first half, and Holly Goble slotted in an early goal to put them 1-0 ahead. They then had numerous short corners which they failed to convert, so the score at half-time remained 1-0.
During the second half, with the College girls continuing to put Christ’s defence under pressure, their hard work paid off. Natasha Gale scored from a penalty flick and then Holly Goble scored again. When the final whistle blew, the College had secured a 3-0 win, finishing the season on a really high note
