Third Rambert residency
Hannah Lockyer from the Rambert Dance Company returned to the Birley Centre last week for the company’s third three-day residency. She worked with 32 young dancers aged 11 to 18 from both the College and other local schools. The workshop culminated in a fantastic production of an exciting new piece of choreography based on ‘The Castaways’ from the Rambert’s current repertoire.
In addition to the workshop for young dancers, there was also a professional development session for local teachers of dance on the first morning of the residency and Lindy Dunbar, a talented figurative artist was present for the three days capturing the movement of the dancers throughout and also working with art students from the College.
The College is delighted by this continued relationship with Rambert and with Hannah who also led the three-day festival workshop with the rugby team (and coaches) in June 2013 and even returned to run some pre-season training for the rugby teams in August – a fantastic collaboration between sport and the arts. She has also choreographed the opening number of the College’s Christmas Musical, ‘I Love You Because’ – a show not to be missed.
