Simon Green Cup
The Simon Green Cup for Endeavour is awarded for endeavour in games through consistent commitment, effort and perseverance. The Michaelmas term 2017 Simon Green Cup award was shared by two recipients.
Here is the award citation from the presentation which took place at the Headmaster’s end-of-term assembly:
“Our first recipient has an incredible work ethic in every sport he plays and always looks to improve on his performance. Over the years in rugby he has never let size affect his progress and success. On top of rugby he has attended pre-season training in readiness for the 1st XI hockey season as our no1 goalkeeper as well as extra cricket sessions in preparation for the 1st XI season. He is a very reliable individual who has a positive, no-fuss approach to training and matches. His endeavour this term is almost unmatched.
Our second recipient also competes in multiple sports every week and this term alone she has been involved in 35 fixtures across three sports. Not only has she been vice captain of the very successful girls 1st XI hockey team who won the Sussex Cup, scoring 18 goals in the process, but she has continued her hockey outside of school, played netball for the College and in the local league and been a consistent early morning swimmer whilst most of us are still asleep – all completed without complaint.
In sport, both of these pupils have pushed the boundaries of endeavour and are a shining example to all. It is with great pleasure that I ask Jack Casebourne and Annie Wilson to come forward to be this term’s joint winners of the Simon Green Cup for Endeavour.”
