Simon Green award Dec 2015
The Simon Green Cup is awarded each term to a pupil who has shown an outstanding level of commitment and endeavour in sport. The Michaelmas term 2015 recipient is Fergus Piper, Year 13 Craig.
Over the last 12 months, Fergus has overcome great personal adversity in order, among other things, to continue playing rugby. In December 2014, Fergus underwent major brain surgery after having missed most of the rugby season due to crippling headaches. With further operations postponed until he finishes school, Fergus had also to contend with an operation to have his gallbladder removed.
Yet, despite still suffering from headaches and excruciating pain at times from the gallstones, Fergus has not only played rugby again this term, but he has been a permanent fixture for the 1st XV, both in training and matches.
He is an outstanding example of true grit: not allowing adversity to hold him back, remaining positive and giving his best for the team.
