Rugby World Cup team base
The College is delighted to announce that the school and University of Brighton will be a Team Base for South Africa (ranked number two in the world) during the Rugby World Cup 2015. The College will provide an outdoor training pitch with the University providing the indoor training facilities. The South African team will use the Memorial ground whilst they are in Eastbourne for a number of days preparing for their group matches in September/October 2015.
It has been quite a long journey to reach this point as we have engaged in an open tender process that started in May 2013. We have worked closely with England Rugby 2015 over the past 12 months to facilitate detailed site visits and liaison with the teams prior to confirmation that we will be a Team Base.
Over the next year and during the tournament, Eastbourne will have the opportunity to be part of the world’s third largest sporting event. To have the world No. 2 ranked team coming to town is fantastic.
