Ratton artists
On Thursday 20 March a group of Year 10 artists from Ratton School, Eastbourne visited the College to participate in an art activity workshop.
The event started at 3.30pm with a two-hour ceramics workshop. The pupils were invited to create a slab-built form based on inspiration from the South Downs in preparation for the Towner Gallery’s 2014 school’s art exhibition.
A light supper was then served in the foyer of the Birley Centre where the visiting pupils could view the College art on display in the gallery area.
The second half of the event was a life-drawing class in the Art School. This provided an opportunity for the artists to draw a model who had been theatrically draped in Charleston-style fabrics.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and Graham Miles, Art Department Curriculum Leader at Ratton School, commented very positively about how much his pupils had benefitted from this workshop.
