RAF Squadron of the Air Training Corps joint exercise
On Wednesday 27 March, the RAF section hosted the first ever joint exercise with 54 (Eastbourne) Squadron of the Air Training Corps. The event began with a formal drill competition, where Eastbourne College cadets performed exceptionally well – of the four squads entering, Eastbourne College A section came second. Cadets then split into four different mixed groups to compete in activities that tested skills such as navigation, aircraft recognition, flight simulation flying, and building and launching simple airframes designed to carry the maximum load possible. Cpl Oliver Williams, L Cpl Lewis Goater, and Cdt Julie Sun all won prizes here.
The evening finished with a curry feast for all officers and cadets. Special thanks go to WO2 Lee Fulwell for jointly marking the drill competition, to Flg Off Maria Ambler, Mr Alex Roberts and Mr Adam Kuchta for running the activities, and especially to F Sgt Abby McNally, whose original idea this was, and who did so much to make it happen, not least spending hours working with our cadets to make them drill-ready!
