Pupils help raise over £45,000
Once again, Eastbourne College pupils played a vital role at the St Wilfrid’s Hospice annual summer luncheon on Wednesday 19 June. Sixty boys and girls from the College acted as waiters and waitresses for the event, while others provided the musical entertainment.
The luncheon at Saffrons Sports Club was attended by over 400 guests and celebrated the opening stages of the brand new hospice being built on Broadwater Way. Rosemary Ross, a trustee of the Hospice, told guests that the purpose of the lunch was to raise much needed funds to equip and furnish the ten additional rooms provided within the new hospice; to raise awareness that the new facility will be a resource for everyone in the community and, finally, to have a jolly good lunch with friends, colleagues and supporters!
Over £45,000 was raised which will go a long way to equip two of the new bedrooms. To support St Wilfrid’s Hospice, either financially or as a volunteer, please contact Mary Lacey on 01323 637867 or email mary.lacey@stwhospice.org.
