Oxbridge Conference
On Tuesday 26 January, 155 pupils and teachers from ten local schools attended the Eastbourne College annual Oxbridge Conference for aspiring Year 12 pupils.
The event started with an introductory session on “What makes Oxbridge different?”, followed by workshop sessions on the ‘Arts and Humanities’ and the ‘Sciences at Oxbridge’.
Guest speakers, Dr Andrew Spencer from Christ’s College, Cambridge and Dr Jeff Tseng from St Edmund Hall, Oxford provided invaluable help and guidance to the audience of keen young people. Presentation topics included the skills looked for in Oxbridge students, the admissions process and the typical weekly university routine. They provided excellent practical advice on personal preparation, college choice and the personal statement.
Everyone gathered back together for tea and individual questions in the Donald Perrens Foyer of the Birley Centre.
We wish all pupils involved every success!
