Oxbridge conference
On Tuesday 21 January the College welcomed 148 Lower Sixth pupils and staff from ten different local schools to the Birley Centre for a conference on Oxbridge preparation.
The conference opened with a presentation from Dr Alice Reid (Churchill College, Cambridge) and Miss Lorna Stevenson (St John’s College, Oxford) on what makes Oxbridge different. Pupils then moved into workshop sessions on the Arts and Humanities or Sciences to find out more about preparation, applications, student life and working routines. They were also introduced to some possible interview questions.
Eastbourne College pupils will follow up this conference with a visit to Oxford on 14 and 15 February. They will tour several Colleges and visit a number of different departments. While in Oxford they will meet with OEs currently studying at the University.
