Outstanding athletics
Eastbourne College athletes Rosie Down, Katinka Morris and Issey Siggs recently travelled to the Withdean Stadium in Brighton to participate in the Sussex Schools Combined Events Championships.
Issey Siggs claimed the Gold medal and Katinka Morris took the Bronze in the Junior section of their first ever multi-event competition. Rosie Down finished fourth in the Intermediate competition.
In a thrilling finale Issey moved from fourth to first place to clinch the title after a stunning 800m and Katinka won the high jump outright. Rosie achieved a very creditable fourth place, winning the 800m but failing to record a throw in javelin event.
The three pupils, coached by the British Masters veteran Ian Turner, have the potential to be an outstanding athletics team.
