One step from nationals
The College U16 hockey team have made it through to the South of England semi-finals by finishing top of their group at Hurstpierpoint College on Tuesday 12 November.
The Eastbourne College team started well winning 5–1 against Epsom College. Katie Butler Manuel scored three goals with Rosie Down and Natasha Gale adding the other two. The girls went on to draw 2–2 against a very strong team from Surbiton High School before meeting St Edward’s School, Oxford (Oxfordshire Champions) in their last match of the day.
The St Edward’s team had already beaten Epsom College 5–0 which meant that Eastbourne had to win this match to qualify for the finals. Eastbourne produced a superb performance to win this vital encounter 3–0. The goals were scored by Augusta King, Hannah Legg and Georgie Moore but it was a real team effort from every girl.
The semi-finals will take place at Southgate Hockey Club on Wednesday 27 November where a win over St George’s, Weybridge will mean that Eastbourne will book themselves a coveted place at the National finals.
