James Bond at the College
On Tuesday 4 February, the College was treated to Gavin Robertson’s wonderful one man parody of James Bond. Playing over 20 different characters in a packed one hour show, Gavin took the audience on a gripping and hysterical Bond adventure complete with car chases, gun fights and invisible ink. M, Q, Honeydew Melons and even Ian Fleming himself, as Bond’s ultimate nemesis, were all created on an open stage with nothing more than three door frames and two Dinky toy cars as props.
Gavin is the College’s Theatre Practitioner, a role in which he teaches LAMDA, helps direct pupil productions and A level and GCSE exam performances as well as running the Year 9 drama programme. He also creates new shows in house and ‘Bond’ has already taken the College name as far afield as Adelaide, Moscow and Kansas. ‘Bond’ reminded the audience how privileged they are to have this remarkable practitioner working within the College.
