Italian ski trip
Fifteen keen pupils and staff members departed from the College at 2.30am on Saturday 29 March heading to Bormio in Italy for a week of skiing and snowboarding.
The Eastbourne College party included pupils from several year groups with a range of abilities from complete beginner to advanced skiers but everyone felt challenged by the extensive variety of terrain in Bormio.
The sun shone for the whole week and the warm temperatures allowed everyone to ski in light clothing. The snow conditions were excellent – firm in the morning and softening as the day progressed. For the first three days of the trip it was possible to ski from the top of the mountain all the way down to the bottom of the valley and into the town of Bormio. Later in the week the hot sunshine started to take its toll on the snow and the lower section had eventually to close.
The hotel sat at 2000m above sea-level and afforded the group stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the valley below. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their week and returned to Eastbourne with a healthy glow from the abundant sunshine and clean mountain air.
