Headmaster’s Commendations Sept 2016

The Headmaster is pleased to commend the following pupils:

Oscar Boulter, Year 11 Craig, who whilst on a geography field trip, assisted an elderly member of the public who collapsed suddenly. He reacted impeccably to a distressing scene and calmly assisted in providing first aid until an ambulance arrived.  He was a credit to himself and the College.

Tatyana Goodwin, Year 11 Watt, for attending an adventurous training course run by the Marines out of Garelochead, in Scotland, during the summer holiday.  The course included three days of training before a four day expedition.  She walked 25km, cycled 35km and canoed 17km, traversed a waterfall and swam in freezing waters and was commended by her course officer for her leadership skills during the navigation exercise.

Annabel Symes, Year 11 Arnold, for representing Eastbourne College and Royal Navy Cadets in the ‘Round the Island Yacht Race’ in July. She joined a cadet crew to enter this race which included 1500 yachts and about 16,000 sailors from around the world.  Despite extremely demanding physical conditions the cadet boat finished the course and came fourth in the junior category.  Annabel was an integral part of this very successful team.

Ella Virgo, Year 13 Blackwater, for impressing course leaders with her tenacity at the Royal Navy CCF Cadet Senior Leadership Course at HMS Rayleigh. The course is the equivalent of an ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) qualification and includes problem solving, decision making and communication tasks.

These pupils will all receive a certificate from the Headmaster.
