Harry selected for England cricket honour

Harry Finch, Sussex, Hastings Priory and Eastbourne College cricketer, has been selected to join the England Elite Player Development U19 squad based at the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough.

Harry, who wasn’t part of the England set-up at U15 or U17 level, is potentially on a two-year programme with a review after the first year. England U19s are due to tour South Africa in January.

Although primarily a batsman, Harry has been selected for the squad as an all-rounder and expects to operate as a fourth seamer. He is one of three Sussex players selected.

A regular in the Sussex second team at the age of just 17, Harry is hoping next season to make his front side debut, receive a county contract and retain his place in the England U19 squad.

“Born to play cricket” in the eyes of one former Hastings Priory captain, Harry is in his second year at Eastbourne College as the inaugural beneficiary of the Peter Bibby Cricket Award. He is studying English, business studies and PE at A level.
