Flying high in the skies
Oliver Williams (Lower Sixth) has been taking to the skies this summer. He was awarded a gliding scholarship by the Honourable Company of Air Pilots (HCAP) and spent five days at the London Gliding Club in Dunstable taking part in over six hours of gliding. He then went on an Air Cadet Pilot Scheme in Scotland. With a further twelve hours of flying, he achieved his first solo-powered flight at the end of the course.
He also completed a week’s work experience at the Wing Design Department of AIRBUS UK in Filton during the first week of the summer holiday – the sky’s the limit.
