Eastbourne College hosts Lashings 2024
In a delightful celebration of cricket and community spirit, attendees were treated to a sun-filled day of festivities at the recent event held on College Field. The vibrant atmosphere was set by the melodic tunes of the College Jazz Band, creating a perfect backdrop as guests enjoyed refreshing Pimm’s and soaked in the warm sunshine.
The event boasted a star-studded line-up from Lashings, including the iconic Henry Blofeld, whose presence added a touch of cricketing glamour to the occasion. Attendees were not only treated to a delectable lunch prepared by the College but also entertained by the humorous cricket tales shared by Geoff Millar which made the room echo with laughter.
The generosity of attendees shone through as numerous live and silent auction prizes were eagerly won and gratefully received, with all proceeds going towards supporting Lashings’ charities and the College. One lucky individual’s dreams of winning a top prize in the raffle came true, winning a holiday in Jamaica.
The event ended with a thrilling match. The College managed to bowl Lashings out for 123 but it wasn’t enough for the pros who took the win in the end. A sterling effort from the College 1st X1. Henry Blofeld commented that it was the first time the Lashings have been bowled out for a long time.
It was special day filled with music, laughter, generosity, and, most importantly, a shared love for the sport of cricket.
