Eastbourne College Hosts First Regional Schools Biathlon Championships
On Tuesday 15th October, Eastbourne College had the honour of hosting the Regional Schools Biathlon Championships, a landmark event in the school’s sporting calendar. This exciting competition brought together 60 talented students from eight schools across the region, showcasing their athletic prowess in both swimming and running.
The event saw competitors from Years 7 through to 13 push themselves to the limit in a pool-based swim, followed by a challenging run on Eastbourne College’s iconic College Field. With the support of friends, family, and school staff, the athletes gave it their all, competing not only for medals but for a chance to qualify for the prestigious British Championships in Bath. Special congratulations are extended to all the students who participated, with a number of standout performances earning gold in their respective age categories. Notably, Poppy W, James F, Elliot H, Poppy C, and Lucas G all took home gold medals in their respective age groups, marking a momentous achievement.
The event, which was held on Eastbourne College’s state-of-the-art facilities, was a true celebration of both individual effort and the spirit of teamwork. Organisers were thrilled with the success of the day, with many competitors expressing their excitement at taking part in such a well-run, competitive event. The smooth organisation, great sportsmanship, and enthusiastic atmosphere were praised by all, and the College community is already looking ahead to next year’s championships.
At present, we are eagerly awaiting the results to see how many of our own pupils have qualified for the upcoming British Championships in Bath. With the hard work and dedication shown by all, we are hopeful that Eastbourne College will have a strong representation on the national stage.
Looking ahead, there are exciting plans to expand the event next year, providing even more opportunities for regional athletes to compete and showcase their skills. The College is committed to fostering sporting talent, and this biathlon championship has proven to be a great platform for young athletes to gain valuable experience and build their competitive edge.
