Girls’ Senior Tennis team win the Winter LTA Schools final
On Thursday 14 March, the Eastbourne College Girls’ Senior Tennis team won the Winter LTA Schools title in the regional finals held at the Sutton Tennis Centre to become one of four national winners. This is the second time the Eastbourne girls have won this title – the first being in 2020.
The team proved too strong for the opposition defeating Peter Symonds 6th form College, Winchester 5-1 in the semi final and then winning emphatically, 6-0 against Hills Road College, Cambridge in the final.
Well done to all six girls who played, showing the strength in depth of the team. Also a big thank you to our superb tennis coaches (also pictured here) who spend long hours training the team on court and in the gym.
The majority of the team are heading to the USA to continue playing tennis at College there, alongside their academic studies. They join over 12 other ex Eastbourne College pupils already studying and playing College tennis.
Eastbourne College has been one of the leading Tennis Schools in GB for nearly ten years now and continues to strive for excellence all year round.
Head of Tennis, Simon Gent said, “this is a fine achievement from an excellent team of dedicated and ambitious young players who are well coached at Eastbourne College and improving all the time. They are looking forward to the summer term school tournaments now and are aiming to qualify for the finals of the main National Schools event, hoping to better the 6th place finish they achieved last year.”
