East Sussex Youth Awards
At a ceremony on Saturday 29 November, two Eastbourne College sixth-form pupils. Tom Page and Marianne Smith, were recognised at the East Sussex Youth Awards.
Many Eastbourne College pupils win accolades but what makes these awards stand out is that they were awarded for what 13-25 year olds have achieved not just for themselves but also for their “selfless support of those less fortunate”.
Tom was nominated for ‘Student of The Year’, Maz for 'Fundraiser of The Year’ (for her Teenage Cancer Trust fashion show at the Birley Centre) and at the presentation dinner at the Winter Gardens both were announced as winners in their respective categories.
At the end of the evening, a special award was announced for the ‘Overall Winner’. This was presented to Tom Page for his work with the Arts Connect Project, supporting adults with learning disabilities to develop their arts interests and skills as well as his work towards his Gold Arts Award. This is obviously a fantastic achievement for Tom who is a great ambassador for the College. Tom and Maz are a terrific examples of our core values in action: participation, the pursuit of excellence, integrity, courtesy and kindness.
