Early victory for College 1st XV
In the opening match of the season the College 1st XV produced a superb performance, beating Bishop Stortford 31–10.
The College turned out a large but capable squad. Although the College players were generally smaller than the opposition, they were stronger in both tackling and contact, winning several turnovers that resulted in scores.
The new Lower Sixth showed great potential and with some hard work the 1st XV should impress this season.
Hector Veasey and Piers O’Conor, both key members of the 1st XV, played for Harlequins U18s against other premiership academies on Wednesday 22 August. Hector had been training with Harlequins over the summer while Piers was brought in 2 weeks prior to the tournament. Harlequins Academy went on to win 3 of their 4 games although injury to other members in the squad stopped the team going through to play-offs.
These two players have brought their experience and professionalism to the College team side with great effect. Both are expected to represent Harlequins after Christmas in another Premiership Academy tournament.
