Chinese New Year 2019
On Sunday 3 February, staff and pupils gathered in the Dining Hall to celebrate the Chinese New Year, as the year of the dog became the year of the pig.
Each of our Chinese pupils invited a guest and the attendees were entertained with speeches, Chinese singing by a Lower Sixth pupil and a quiz about the symbols of the Chinese New Year flowers. The different activities organised throughout the evening allowed pupils and staff to share and learn something about Chinese culture.
This was a special occasion as it was the first time that the Chinese New Year was celebrated in our stunning new Dining Hall, and the catering team did an amazing job decorating a pig and setting up the mood lighting in the traditional red colour.
Many thanks must go to the EAL department and various pupils who helped make the evening so special.
