CCF Urban Training
27 cadets and a number of College CCF staff deployed to the
Urban Training Centre inside Longmoor Training camp to learn and practice the
rudimentary skills of operating in an urban environment. After an evening and
morning of training, the cadets, led by
their NCOs, had to negotiate a tunnel
system to get to their start point and then spent the next two hours clearing
rooms, houses and a street within a mock up village. This was a complex
exercise involving detailed planning, rehearsals and the need for immediate and
clear decision making followed by careful communication, all under pressure.
The cadets all performed exceptionally
well under the watchful gaze of the exercise organiser Lt Dan Fathers and two
young officers from 3 PWRR who gave up their time to instruct and to inspire.
