Athletics Day 2018
On the gloriously sunny afternoon of Friday 29 June the College community gathered at the Eastbourne Sports Park for the Athletics Day 2018. The standard of competition was high despite record-breaking temperatures and several school records were broken. It was an excellent event with everyone cheering and supporting their individual houses. With lashings of suntan cream dispensed and plenty of water and ice-cream consumed, pupils and staff enjoyed this annual event hugely.
The results were as follows:
Senior Boys: 1st – Powell; 2nd – Reeves; 3rd – Pennell
Senior Girls: 1st – Blackwater ; 2nd – Arnold ; 3rd – Nugent
Intermediate Boys: 1st – Craig; 2nd – Powell ; 3rd – Wargrave
Intermediate Girls: 1st – Watt; 2nd – Nugent ; 3rd – Arnold
Junior Boys: 1st equal- Powell and Reeves; 3rd – Wargrave
Junior Girls: 1st – Arnold; 2nd – School ; 3rd – Blackwater
Overall Boys: 1st – Powell 2nd – Reeves 3rd – Craig
Overall Girls: 1st – Arnold 2nd – Blackwater 3rd – Nugent
Senior Victor Ludorum – Alexander Mannhardt and Louis Wood
Senior Victrix Ludorum – Isabel McIntosh and Katie Meikle
The following school records were broken:
- Amy Goble broke the senior girls javelin record, throwing 24.87 metres
- Lillian Harley broke the junior girls long jump record with 4.55m
- Charlotte Stanworth broke the junior girls discus record, throwing 21.93 metres
- Joshua Veitch broke the intermediate boys javelin record, throwing 44.95 metres
