ARTiculation 2018
Upper Sixth pupil Anya Pasternack represented the College in the Regional heat of ARTiculation 2018, a national competition organised by The Roche Court Educational Trust at the Quarterhouse in Folkestone. The competition is designed to stimulate pupils’ interest and understanding of art while developing individual thinking, research, presentation and public speaking skills. Competing against eight other contestants from a broad range of schools in the South East, Anya impressed the judge, artist Adam Chodzko, with her impassioned presentation of Shift by Jenny Saville. Adam praised Anya for her selection of artwork and for her very personal and excellent interpretation of the painting. He commented that he had never looked at Saville’s work in such detail and had not been aware of Saville’s direct references to Holocaust imagery. Anya was a great credit to the College, calm, poised and confidently interacted with her fellow participants and the organisers.
