A balanced Education with an excellent range of subjects
The balance between breadth and depth is important in education.
In Year 9, when pupils start at the College, they study a wide range of subjects, to broaden their experience and to prepare them for the choices they will make for GCSE. Once they reach the sixth form, the ten or 11 subjects they have been studying for GCSE give way to the opportunity to study three, or occasionally more, subjects in depth at A-level.
The PSHE programme ensures that pupils have an education beyond the examined curriculum. It draws together, among other things, personal, social and health education, religious and ethical issues in contemporary society, and critical and creative thinking skills across the five years a pupil spends in the school.
