A time of giving
Thanks to the generosity of pupils, parents, staff and friends, Eastbourne College hase raised almost £8000 for different charities during the course of the Michaelmas term.
Fundraising initiatives included contributions for drinks at the school plays, ticket sales from a student-led Charity Revue organised by Year 12 pupil, Thivya Kularajan; profits from the sale of art works at the 'Paper Couture' exhibition organised by Year 13 pupil, Rebecca Nurse for her Gold Arts Award and the weekly '50p Promise' collections in Chapel, established to encourage pupils and staff to contribute to charity regularly.
Whislt some activities were both house-based, many involved the whole school community including the Tom Lewis Memorial Rugby Match and events surrounding the annual observation of Remembrance Day.
The charities benefiting from these fundraising efforts included: Arts Connect, Ben McNicol Trust, Budapest migrants, Children in Need, Foodbank, High Five Breakfast Club in Zambia, MA Children’s Home in Sri Lanka, Matthew 25 Mission, Red Cross for Refugees, Royal British Legion, St Wilfrid’s Hospice, and the Winter Night Shelter.
