Speech Day 2018
On Saturday 30 June, the whole College community gathered for a day of celebration for Speech Day 2018.
The celebrations began with a whole-school service in St Saviour’s Church where pupils, staff and governors were joined by parents of choristers and Upper Sixth pupils to enjoy an uplifting service. One of the lessons was read by Head of Biology David Beer who retired after 30 years of service. The choir was outstanding and the congregation were in pretty fine voice too.
After guests had enjoyed coffee and pastries, the Upper Sixth joined parents from all year groups for Speech Day presentations in All Saints’ Church. Addresses were given by departing heads of school Harriet Dipper and George Skinner, followed by Headmaster Tom Lawson and Chairman of Governors Philip Broadley.
Once the formal proceedings were finished, and under a glorious blue sky, parents, pupils, staff and visitors enjoyed drinks and picnics on College Field, followed by a cricket match.
Musical sounds floated across the grass as pupils entertained the large gathering from the balcony of the new cricket pavilion, and there was also time to view various creative arts exhibitions.
