Glyndebourne visit
A group of pupils from Years 9, 10 and 12, who are in the process of completing their Arts Awards, recently visited Glyndebourne Opera House to witness the pre-dress rehearsal of Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’.
The chorus numbered around 40 people and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Richard Farnes, accompanied the opera. Kristina Mkhitary is performing as the the protagonist Violetta. Everyone was astounded by the unbelievable quality of the opera stars’ voices.
The auditorium and grounds were stunning, especially with the beautiful weather on the day. It was a great experience for all, especially meeting James Newby, one of the Jerwood Young Artists.
Eastbourne College was fortunate to have this amazing opportunity thanks to their partnership with Glyndebourne. Everyone who participated in the trip would like to extend their gratitude for this very special visit.
