Cracking start to season
The Eastbourne College 1st XI cricket team beat both Brighton College and Bede's School on Sunday 23rd April to qualify for the South East regional finals of the National Schools Twenty20 Competition.
In the first game against Brighton College, Oliver Carter excelled with the bat. His impressive innings of 59 off 52 balls helped the team reach a total of 140/6 from their 20 overs before they bowled Brighton out for 102 within 18 overs. Tight bowling from Ben McIntosh (3-0-6-2) and Joe Pocklington (2.3-0-4-2) towards the end of the Brighton innings helped the 1st XI secure their victory.
The second match against Bede's School in the afternoon saw the Eastbourne 1st XI limit Bede's to 126 all out in 20 overs before T20 captain, Ben Twine, scored 58 from 47 balls, with Joe Pocklington (25) helping to see the team over the line after a couple of quick wickets. Ben hit a big six on to the roof of the Memorial building to seal the victory with nine balls to spare.
The second round of the T20 competition will be played at Tonbridge School on Sunday 7th May.
