C150 fireworks
On Friday 24 February over 2000 people gathered at Eastbourne College to watch an amazing fireworks display – the opening event of this year's 150th anniversary celebrations.
The evening started with musical performances from pupils and staff in College Theatre, followed by the most spectacular fireworks display ever seen at the College. The crowd of spectators – pupils, parents, staff and a large numbers of local residents – enjoyed an incredible display in almost perfect weather conditions.
The fireworks were provided Event FX Limited, a company operated by two Old Eastbournians, Harry Guthrie (Pennell 1996 – 2001) and Owain White (School 1992 – 1997). We were extremely fortunate to secure their services as their expertise and professionalism is internationally renowned. Previous projects include the Rio Olympics, the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations at Windsor and the 2017 RBS Six Nations Rugby Championship.
Following the fireworks over 200 people enjoyed a curry evening in the College Dining Hall. This ticketed event was a complete sell-out well in advance of the evening.
