Multi-media success
Old Eastbournian Ben Wolstenholme (Powell 1988-1993) recently appeared on Fox News in the USA to talk about his remarkably sophisticated comic app company, Madefire http://www.madefire.com/
While at the College he was recognised as an outstanding artist. His tutor, Jayne Harriott, Head of Art, commented, “Ben always completed everything to the highest possible standard and was entirely motivated and driven to succeed.” On leaving the College, Ben attended Central Saint Martin’s School of Art to study graphic design.
Ben’s passion for storytelling has led him to start two creative businesses: Moving Brands and Madefire.
In 1998 Ben co-founded Moving Brands, a leading branding and digital agency. As CEO Ben pioneered the company’s approach to branding which is built around cross-platform storytelling. Now in its 14th year, Moving Brands currently employs a multi-disciplinary team across creative studios in London, Zurich, Tokyo and San Francisco. Ben has creatively led award-winning work for clients including: Apple, BBC, Flipboard, HP, Ness, Nokia, Showyou, Swisscom and Yahoo! In 2009 Ben moved with his family from London to San Francisco to open Moving Brands’ fourth international studio.
In 2011 Ben co-founded Madefire, a media and technology company. Madefire has built an end-to-end publishing platform and launched the Madefire App which delivers Motion Books — a new type of reading experience for the iPad.
Ben is currently working with fellow OE and talented writer and artist, Liam Sharpe (Pennell 1981-86).
