Chinese New Year 2015
On Sunday 8 February staff and pupils joined together to enjoy the annual Chinese New Year meal to celebrate the Year of the Goat. According to College tradition, the evening began with opening speeches in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
With the Dining Hall transformed with festive red lanterns and other traditional decorations, the guests enjoyed traditional Chinese cuisine provided by the local restaurant, Mr Haus, together with a rice-ball dessert (Tangyuan) prepared by the College catering department.
The activities throughout the evening allowed pupils and teachers to learn something about China’s unique culture and customs, and a special music video prepared by the Chinese community in Eastbourne College concluded the evening in style.
Many thanks must go to the EAL department and various pupils who helped make the evening so special. Everyone is looking forward to next year’s celebration!
