Brewery visit
On Wednesday 18 September the Business Studies department took 30 Year 12 pupils to Harveys Brewery in Lewes. On arrival they were welcomed by Miles Jenner, Head Brewer, who provided an introduction to the brewery and its history.
The group enjoyed a tour of the brewery and were given an insight into the chain of production from sourcing the ingredients to bottling and distribution. Mr Jenner emphasised how the brewery relies on local firms as loyal customers.
Key learning points from the trip included the challenges of international expansion, the importance of fastidious quality control and waste management. These essential business principles will help the enthusiastic Year 12 pupils with their business studies courses.
The College was extremely grateful for the opportunity to visit the brewery and hope to repeat the trip again next year.
