Pitch Black boosts Hospice funds
Pitch Black, a newly developed play, was recently presented in the College Theatre in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
The play focused on a daughter preparing her aged father for life in a home. His fragmented memory is the cause of frustration and comedy in equal measure. Superbly balanced performances, both wittily observed and acutely moving, from professional actors Nicholas Collett and Denise Hoey were matched by convincing and affecting contributions from student actors Michael Lees, May Scott and Imogen Russell.
Prior to the performances, John Summers, from St Wilfrid’s Hospice, gave a presentation on the work of the hospice and their move to a new site and was supported at a post-show talkback by the cast, the director of the play, Gavin Robertson, and consultant for palliative care, Dr Joanna Shawcross.
The production raised a total of £600 for this excellent local cause.
