Supporting St Wilfrid’s
This summer, the enduring relationship between Eastbourne College and St Wilfrid’s has been further strengthened by pupils getting involved with several fund raising events for the Hospice.
For the third consecutive year, sixty boys and girls from the College acted as waiters and waitresses whilst others provided musical entertainment for the St Wilfrid’s Summer Luncheon in June and last week almost 200 boys, girls and staff took part in the 10k Jim Jam walk. This annual event once again started from the College Theatre and finished at the College Dining Hall for a warming cup of soup.
The theme continues this week as the College presents a new play, inspired by the work of the Hospice, and performed by professional actors working alongside College drama pupils. Directed by the College’s Theatre Practitioner, Gavin Robertson, Pitch Black promises to be a nostalgic comedy as it follows Lily preparing her elderly father Ivor for life in a ‘home’. In advance of the performance, Sixth form pupils at the College enjoyed an absorbing preview of the play during a dynamic and thought provoking presentation about the work of the Hospice by Legacy Manager, John Summers.
Pitch Black will be performed at The College Theatre on Saturday 21 September at 7.30pm with all proceeds going to St Wilfrid’s.
