Headmaster’s Commendations Sept 2013
The Headmaster would like to commend the following pupils:
Mia Finnamore, Year 11 School and Annabel Hudson, Year 12 School, Michael Lees, Year 13 Reeves, Imogen Russell, Year 11 School and May Scott, Year 9 Watt, for their commitment and hard work, on stage and off, helping to raise funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice through the performances of Pitch Black.
Augusta King, Alice Streeter and Lara Whitmore, all Year 11 Nugent, Rebecca Nurse and Annabel Rudden, both Year 11 Watt, and Samuel McClure, Year 11 Craig, for their commitment to the development of their Year 10 coursework over the summer and the quality and quantity of art that they produced independently.
Beth Stephens, Year 12 Blackwater, for her high level of commitment to two current Glyndebourne projects. She has spent much of the summer in rehearsal for these, showing great dedication. In Hipployte et Aricie she will be playing the flute alongside musicians from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and she will be singing in the Benjamin Britten Centenary Project (as part of Glyndebourne Youth Opera 2).
Georgina Moore, Year 11 Nugent, who explored ideas and experimented widely with new techniques during the holidays to submit an outstanding piece of work towards her GCSE art project for Year 11. She has not only set an excellent example to the Year 11 artists but also set a standard many of the Sixth Form should be aiming for.
Harry Piper, Year 11 Reeves, and Bill Corfield, Year 11 Craig, for the excellence of their work in connection with the Arkwright Scholarship. Both boys undertook a programme of preparation, sat an exam and were short-listed for interview. Bill was offered a Scholarship and both boys were a credit to themselves and the school.
Their names and signatures will be entered in the Commendation Book.
