British Lions at Eastbourne College
As the British Lions 2013 tour to Australia continues, Michael Partridge, Archivist at the College, has researched their past association with Eastbourne.
During the 1950s and 1960s Eastbourne College regularly hosted the British Lions and several other international rugby teams. They trained on the College pitches and were a regular feature on College Field.
These photographs show the Lions in front of the College Memorial Block in 1962 prior to their tour to South Africa and the New Zealand All Blacks practising the renowned Haka on College Field in 1953.
