National Youth Theatre 2013
Fergus Piper, Year 10 Craig, has recently been awarded a place at the prestigious National Youth Theatre (NYT).
The competition for places is extremely tough. Each year the NYT receives on average over 4,000 applications for just 500 places. The successful candidates are selected during acting auditions and technical theatre interviews held around the UK.
NYT members are eligible to audition for the Company’s productions, staged in London’s West End, around the UK and internationally. In the summer of 2012, NYT members staged the Olympic and Paralympic Team welcome ceremonies at the athletes village for the London Games.
The NYT was founded in 1956 as the world’s first youth theatre and now has reputation as a breeding ground for renowned British actors such as Daniel Day-Lewis, Dame Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Ben Kingsley, Derek Jacobi, Rosamund Pike and Orlando Bloom.
