Charity Day 2013

The second of this academic year’s two Charity Days took place on Friday 15 February. Pupils and staff were encouraged to come to school in casual clothes in exchange for a small donation of £2 each to the charities that ECHO (Eastbourne College Help Overseas) support.

The day included a ‘Charity Lunch’ consisting of a bowl of soup, a bread roll and a piece of fruit for every pupil and staff member. The money saved by the College Catering Department has been donated to ECHO.

The funds raised by the lunch will be used to support a Breakfast Club scheme at a school in Malawi run by the High Five Club, one of the ECHO charities. £15 provides breakfast for one child for a whole year and the money donated by ECHO will fund breakfast for approximately 40 of the 300 children in the school.

In addition, pupils involved in Charity S@S (Service at School) organised buskers to perform during break at various locations around the College in aid of The Teenage Cancer Trust.
