Excellent haul of ABRSM exam results
Eastbourne College musicians praised for their recent haul of Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exam results.
The coronavirus pandemic may be dominating the national news headlines but there are plenty of good-news stories to report. Not least the efforts of the following pupils who have achieved excellent results in their recent music exams.
Congratulations to all! These results are testament to the pupils’ consistent hard work in the pursuit of excellence. Thank you very much also to those staff who have helped prepare our musicians.

About the abrsm
The ABRSM has an interesting history. Founded in 1889, the organisation formed when Sir Alexander MacKenzie, principal of the Royal Academy of Music, suggested to Sir George Grove, director of the Royal College of Music, that their two pre-eminent musical training institutions unite to create a new examining body, “inspired by disinterested motives for the benefit of musical education… which would genuinely provide a stimulus and an objective for a high standard of achievement”.
The new body, ABRSM, was designed specifically to provide an impartial and authoritative alternative to privately owned examining institutions, which were widely perceived to be motivated more by mercenary concerns than a real desire to promote high standards of musical education and assessment.
