Tenerife Tennis Academy 2019
winter training at its best – Tenerife 2019
When you live in a country like England and you have a passion for fair-weather sports, at some point in the year (for quite some months in fact) you will find that conditions will deteriorate to a point when going indoors is sometimes the only option; if you want to continue your training regime that is… even here on the sunshine coast!
Eastbourne College tennis players have access to first-class indoor facilities in our state-of-the-art Winn building, and at the local David Lloyd Health Club. However, a week-long trip to sunny Tenerife is always popular with our best players, not least because they experience a different culture. Head of Tennis, Simon Gent, writes a summary report:
The second winter tennis training trip to the Tenerife Tennis Academy went extremely well. Experiencing warm sun and clear skies every day, the Eastbourne girls team joined in with local players during their weekly training regime. This entailed four to five hours on court each day, plus fitness training.
There was time to swim and study after training each day together, with some evening trips to local towns and restaurants. Fitness training on the beach and a swim in the ocean proved a fitting end on the last morning.
All the girls have returned feeling fitter and with their tennis improved.
The girls tennis team have recently been nominated for the Team Of The Year Award at the upcoming Tennis Sussex Awards 2020.
