Lord Tyrie’s visit
Pupils studying economics and government and politics were very fortunate to have a visit from Lord Tyrie last week. He spoke to the group about his long and very distinguished career in politics and his more recent roles as Chair of the Treasury Select Committee and of the Competition and Markets Authority. It was enormously useful for pupils to hear first-hand about the way these important government bodies operate, particularly given the direct relevance to their A-level studies. The Q&A session ranged very broadly across economic, political and social issues, with pupils taking full advantage of the opportunity to quiz someone who is still in the heart of government at this fascinating and challenging time.
