Ski Championships report
Just before Christmas, ten pupils went on a trip to Les Deux
Alpes in France to take part in the Independent Schools Ski and Snowboarding
Championships. It was the largest competition held so far with 178 boys and 163
girls taking part from 23 schools. The students had two days of race training
followed by three days of racing. All students competed in the Giant Slalom, Slalom
and Team Parallel Slalom.
Pupils from different levels and categories participated in
the three teams:
Senior – Nick Crowther , Silas Rowlands and Ed Were.
Intermediate – Spike Gleave, Olivia Kennedy, George
Pool , Bede Rowlands and Loveday Rowlands.
Snowboarders – Ethan Hackett and Dotty McNally.
The College ski team did brilliantly and came fourth overall
at the Championships. This is an outstanding achievement for the team. The
pupils competed against exceptional skiers including some GB team skiers, and
they all showed superb skills and were great ambassadors for the College. The snowboarders competed in the Giant Slalom
and Slalom and won all their races.
Not only the teams performed extremely well, but there were
some remarkable individual performances too. The pupils were lucky enough to
have some glorious weather and thoroughly enjoyed the six days spent in Les
Deux Alps.
